Ukuleles We Carry:

logo_applause_large

Since 1966, Ovation has been making guitars with their famous roundback. They discovered that the flat back of an acoustic guitar actually hindered the balance and projection. So they developed the roundback. This design improved projection, gave the instrument a better balance from bass through treble and made for a stronger and more rugged instrument.

The Ukes are back! The popularity of Applause ukuleles is spreading worldwide. The roundback body is particularly effective in projecting the midrange and bright tones of the uke, giving it surprising volume and clarity.

These are great instruments for the money! Made right here in the USA in sunny-tropical New Hartford, CT. The folks at The Magic Fluke Company have been 'instrumental' in cultivating a resurgent interest in the ukulele with their wonderful Fluke and Flea models. Yes, they may look unconventional, but they sound terrific and have spot-on intonation! They sound great and will stand up to just about anything you can throw at them. Hey, they stand up by themselves!--You can tell your friends that you saved money on an instrument stand 'cause these have one built in!

Seriously, these ukuleles make great QUALITY starter instruments for the budding beginner w/spot-on intonation, great action and VERY DURABLE construction. There's no reason to get frustrated w/buzzing strings or out of tune playing.--PERFECT!!

They make the perfect travel instrument.--I take one with me everywhere I go!

If you're a seasoned pro, you'll be absolutely amazed at what some may deem a simplistic design!  This is one 'ukulele you will never "grow out of".

We've been a Gold Tone dealer for almost 2 years now, and I can honestly say, without any hesitation, that they make some of the best instruments available. I've never had one returned for any reason. That combined with the fact that they are a small family owned business & are absolutely wonderful to work with, makes them the absolutely best value for your hard earned money. Another neat thing about Gold Tone is that they are THE ONLY banjo manufacturer that has a TRANSFERABLE WARRANTY on ALL of their banjos. It is a LIFETIME WARRANTY to the initial purchaser & then a 5 YEAR WARRANTY transfers to the 2nd owner (if you are ever able to part with it)!

All of their wood body instruments carry a 5 YEAR WARRANTY.

logo_pono_large

In Hawaiian, "pono" is defined as goodness and excellence. Using a variety of woods, our Pono instruments have the classic warm tone and projecting volume of guitars and ‘ukuleles of yesteryear.

As mentioned, we use the finest grade of solid woods for body, neck, binding, purflings and bridges, bone for nut and saddle, mother of pearl for our logo and fingerboard position markers, and high quality Grover tuning machines. Finishes are not merely minimal coatings to produce sheen, but instead we perform the same professional procedure as our Ko'olau line, with applications of pore filler, sealer, finish coats, final wet sanding and buffing, all resulting in a stunningly beautiful instrument.

Electronic amplification is available on most Pono models. On our Ko'olau line we offer a variety of pickup options, however for Pono instruments we have decided to offer a high quality "passive" saddle transducer pickup. Although excellent as a "stand alone" pickup, a more enhanced amplification is possible by "activation" easily accomplished by adding a battery powered preamp to the already existing system. A Pono brand Outboard Preamp is available.
Pono instruments are professionally designed and handcrafted by the Ko'olau Guitar & ‘Ukulele Company. Manufacturing is on the island of Java, with final adjustments and set-up on the island of Oahu, Hawaii."
